Rhya Jerrold

Executive Director

Rhya Jerrold is the proud owner and Executive Director of the Greentrees Country Day School and Camp.  Rhya received her Master of Science in Elementary Education, with a specialization in Birth-Second Grade, and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Sociology, with a minor in Psychology.  She also holds a Doctorate degree in Educational Administration & Policy. For two decades, she has worked as a teacher, director, trainer, and educational coach.  In 2020, Rhya had the fortunate opportunity to come to Greentrees, a school founded by Marilyn and Murray Hauer, who envisioned a place “where children would always be happy.”

 

Rhya's vast experience continues to provide Greentrees with the educational foundation that ensured a meaningful and successful preschool experience for so many children in its 30+ year legacy. She wholeheartedly believes in the spirit of Greentrees. The dedication and enthusiastic spirit that Marilyn demonstrated during her nearly 30-year tenure is the same one Rhya has embraced, and is fiercely devoted to.

As a committed administrator and educator, Rhya serves on many professional associations and is currently on the Executive Board of both the New York State Assoocation for the Education of Young Children (NYSAEYC) and the Long Island affiliate of NYAEYC.  As an attorney who is admitted to the NYS Bar, Rhya is also a member of the NYSBA and the ABA.

In addition, Rhya continues to utilize her certifications as a State Credentialed trainer and coach to guide both our own Greentrees teaching staff and others in the field.  Ensuring that early childhood educators are well-informed, well-trained, and well-practiced is a key to providing optimal learning environments for our youngest children.
